What can I say about the taste of the sea? firstly the views are to die for, absolutely stunning ( even in November ) the house itself was clean, spacious, warm and plenty utensils for cooking, the log burner was great and all the items in the house worked a treat. If you fancy a trip north in Skye , you won’t be disappointed to book the taste of the sea

Perfect Getaway
This is a great place to stay. Ben has really been great. Our family had been looking for our first getaway since Covid and being a large family, needed a place that can cater our needs. Ben had been really accommodating to provide us that, the property itself was immaculately clean and is perfectly located actually (within 5 minutes to Quarang, 20 minutes to Old man of Storr, 30 minutes to Portree). The location has some fantastic views so even if you want to stay in for a day or two after a long drive (12 hours for us), it gives you everything you need! It was easy to find on the Navigation as well and good mobile network signals (at least on EE). I'd highly recommend and definitely come back!

Our amazing stay on Skye!
Our stay at the Taste of the Sea was simply perfection. The location is just stunning. We were greeted with a lovely bottle of wine! The home was absolutely lovely! We had some troubles getting out because of a flat tire and the host, Cat, dropped everything to help us get to our car and made sure we’d have groceries and transportation in case our car was indisposed. She was the epitome of hospitality and warmth! Thank you!! Thank you!!! We will come back again!

Great accommodation
Really enjoyed our stay at Taste of the Sea. Lovely views out over the water. Rooms were quite comfortable though the beds were a bit smaller than we have at home. Shower were good in the en-suites, but for the water in the shower in the main bathroom it was difficult to control the temperature of the water. It was either scalding hot or cold. The main light didn’t work in the smaller of the double bedrooms - probably needed a bulb. There was also a bulb gone in the bedside light in larger double room. It would be really handy to place a mirror near a plug socket so you can see what you’re doing when drying your hair. The mirror in the en-suite steamed up so it wasn’t easy to shave after a shower. It would be useful to have a hook in the bathroom to hang dressing gowns etc. There was plenty of hot water, and the house was warm. There’s plenty of space generally. The kitchen was fairly well stocked with pans and utensils. The oven, hob and dishwasher worked well, as did the washing machine and tumble dryer. It would be useful to have somewhere to hang coats in the utility room when you come into the house. The chairs at the dining table in the kitchen were a tad low for adults sitting at the table and we ended up putting cushions on the chairs to bring ourselves up to a more comfortable level. It would be worse for children. We did comment on arrival about the bush overhanging the drive which made it awkward for large cars to get past without scratches, which was dealt with a few days later. We had bikes which we were able to store safely in the storeroom outside when not in use. We noticed a lot of Asda delivery vehicles whilst on Skye and think it would be a good idea to suggest to potential future visitors to organise a grocery delivery for their arrival, especially as there isn’t really a handy shop nearby. Another idea would be to offer the option of a welcome basics pack at an extra cost of things like milk and bread. Would recommend this accommodation.

Very comfortable stay in the Taste of the Sea
Communication with the host was good and the self check-in went without problems. The house is big enough for 8 people - the extra living room is a bonus. The view is spectacular! Very quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much and would book again.

This is a gorgeous setting. House is roomy and comfortable. Very private. Good location for exploring the island. Serious lack of restaurants on the whole island so book ahead for dinner.

A lovely cottage
This cottage was about half an hour north of Portree, very close to some iconic Skye hikes like Old Man and Quiraing. The north end of the peninsula is lovely, the house has an amazing unobstructed view of the beach below. comfortable, modern, great communication with the property manager.

A clean and silent place with a beautiful view, but overpriced
Great place to stay with a group up to 8 persons. Clean, 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a big kitchen and separate living room. The biggest asset is the unique amazing view over the bay. We did stay with a family of 4 adults, only using half of the beds. The double bed in the biggest room however was simply too soft and small and delivered a disappointing experience of a first night having hardly any sleep because of touching the bottom of the matras ( I am only 78kg so that is never an issue). The next 2 nights we have slept apart by using other unused beds. Furthermore we had a leaking sink in the bathroom so that we had a wet floor. We paid close to €600 per night (1800€ for 3 nights) and as a consequence we believe, despite of the clean space and amazing view, this accommodation is simply overpriced, especially for a smaller group.

Incredible views!
We had a lovely stay. The view from the house is just gorgeous and the location is great. Wonderful espresso and treats up the road at Burr was an added bonus! Perfect location for some amazing hikes with fabulous views that avoid the crowds of the popular hikes in the area.
